Jessica can't remember a time in her life when she didn't love making music! She began private piano lessons at age 8, and at age 12 chose to play the clarinet in her school band program. Although Jessica has been playing piano for nearly 20 years, in 2012 it was the Francophone Association of Sudbury which gave her her first opportunity to teach this versatile instrument. The experience she gained during her three year stay with this organization is invaluable to her as a teacher and musician.
She has also enjoyed a Music Instructor position in the Canadian Cadet Organizations' Military Band Program at Blackdown Cadet Training Centre on CFB Borden, allowing her to teach clarinet for six summers. During her summers at Blackdown, she had the pleasure of teaching woodwind students ages 12 to 18, giving private lessons, running band rehearsals, woodwind sectional rehearsals, and teaching music theory classes.
In 2010 she graduated from Laurentian University in Sudbury with a B.A. specialization in music, and from the University of Western Ontario in 2012 with an M.A. in Musicology . In the years following her graduation from Western, she enjoyed lecturer and keyboard instructor positions with Laurentian University in Sudbury, Ontario. Jessica is currently pursuing her PhD in music at York University. This program has given her yet another opportunity to teach music at the post-secondary level, as she was granted a Teaching Assistant position for the second year History of Western Art Music course. She has teaching experience with every age group, from Junior-kindergarten to post-secondary. With every lesson or class, Jessica hopes to instruct and inspire! Jessica teaches piano, flute, clarinet, and saxophone.
With every lesson or class I hope to inspire everyone I instruct.
